He is also taking an interest in bow hunting. I know the price can range from $50 - to sky's the limit. I don't mind spending a decent amount. But what am I looking for? I would like this to be a surprise, so I don't want to grill him about it. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Try searching on http://www.cabelas.com or http://www.gandermountain.com. They usually have a really good selection of what you are looking for and decent descriptions of what the product intails. This is the two places my hunting husband looks for his outdoor products. Hope it helps.
I just searched a cabela’s and seen a very good selection of binoculars. My hubby really likes the brands Nikon and Bushnell. They are both really excellent brands.
Hello,
Try and find some places in your location like, Gander Mt., Cabala’s and *****, they carry just about anything. Ask questions and take some notes and then it’s up to you to make the pick, and if you want a great savings try eBay if you’ve done transactions there before.
Mine are a pr. of Ziss 7×35 compact and would not recomend anything more the a 7 power if being hand-held.
Good luck.
Wow, what a lucky husband you have!
Optics are usually one area where the old adage “you get what you pay for” definitely applies…..rifle scope or binocs.
That said, I have a pair of expensive binocs my Dad got me years ago and they never really go into the field with me because they are special.
Silly, I know, but I’d be very sad if I dropped them down a hill or lost them.
What I do carry I get myself and I like small and light and not too much money. If they get wet of dropped, no biggie.
I’ve listed a link to a buying guide and also to a pair of Steiner hunting binocs…..very, very high quality at $100. I think he’s be delighted with these…
i have a pair of Leopold 10×50 that work great, im a nikkon fan, but they have a clearer and more crisp view than the nikkon 10×50’s. if tested both in the field and in the shop. they ran me inbetween 150 and 200. i dont remember for sure i bought them a year and a half ago. i try not to think about how much i spend in a year on hunting equipment, as if i did i would probably sit down and cry. but i would reccomend those to anyone in the market for a new pair of binoculars.
Check ebay! good luck!
check out http://www.cabelas.com. they have many choices in many different price ranges and , if i’m not mistaken, they offer a buyers guide to selecting which one is right for your( or your husbands) needs. in my opinion, you can’t go wrong with zeiss or steiner brands.
I am a fan of regular sized binocs for all those applications.
I find that 8X40 or 8X42 binocs are most usefull. Look at Nikon or Bushnell in the price range of $150.00
Hope that helps.
All I can say is stick with the Leopold Products and you cant go wrong!!!!! Good luck!
I went to the local outdoors store( Farm King), and found an awesome pair of Bushnell ones for like $85. they are very clear and powerful.
alguien me daria la direccon para mandar a mi mujer!!!!!!!!!

1/29/10 Made some awesome Angus/deer burgers with bacon and pepper-jack cheese. So delicious. Theres a non-cropped version in my photostream.
Poor shot with a bow.
SSSSHHHHHHHHH!!!!
2:49 that’s just so fun!
A hand-held pair such as 10×50, and a tripod-mounted pair such as 15×70 or 20×80. Get the smaller pair first and get some experience learning the sky before investing in a larger pair.
Personally, when doing binocular observing (under light-polluted skies) I will use a pair of 15×70 hand-held (not everyone can adaquately hand-hold binoculars of this size and magnification) along with a tripod-mounted pair of 25×100 binos. But you need a beefy mount/tripod for such a pair, which is an additional expense.
Turn the turkey breast down. All the juices run down. Instead of breast up. This was passed down from my great grandma & it works!!!!
